Twin buildings for St Catherine's Hospice
27/02/2026
We were asked to attend a meeting at St Catherine's Hospice in January 2026 at Pease Pottage near Gatwick as they needed a new well insulated store facility.
When we arrived and were shown the site and what they were trying to achieve, it became a little more complicated.
They currently had nine steel 10’ x 8’ stores with no insulation and no electrics inside a small compound and not only needed a new and much better store facility, but they needed these removing as well, as the new stores were to be positioned in the same place.
The new store facility that was required consisted of two 40’ x 10’ new jack leg open plan portable buildings, with an uprated 5kn per m2 floor loading and high-level fan heating. Each had to have steel Kirncroft double door entry and a plastic-coated steel exterior with no windows.
Such was the site, that the two buildings could not be installed even with the 115 ton
hi-ab crane, as it was too far to stretch to their final sited position, so we employed the services of Southern Cranes under a contract lift basis.
Whilst we were manufacturing the two new 40’ x 10’ buildings, we attended site and dismantled and removed the old steel stores that they had been using, and the following week we delivered the two new buildings which were successfully craned into position to the delight of our customer who immediately sent us some photographs of the installation with an email thanking us for all of our support throughout the project.
Another highly satisfied customer who was extremely happy with the quality of our buildings, the speed of manufacture, our more than competitive prices and our ability to remove their existing steel stores.
