New welfare portable building for Branston Ltd
6/09/2026
This is the 3rd building we have recently supplied to Branston Ltd, the potato suppliers near Lincoln, but this time it was installed within a warehouse area.
After previously supplying Branston with two new portable buildings over the last few months, we were contacted to help again, but this time it was a little more complicated.
They needed a welfare building but only for a 30 week’s period.
The building had to have very specific requirements, which included a hand-washing stainless-steel trough with four knee operated taps, four electric hand dryers, non-slip flooring, a large effluent tank and two steel Kirncroft doors with vision panels positioned in exact locations within the building and digital locks. In addition, they also needed two sets of steel steps with adjustable legs.
All to be supplied and installed within 3 weeks.
They quickly realised that they would not be able to hire a building that was so specific, so we provided them with a purchase price for a new building and an optional “buy back” price after the 30 weeks had expired, giving them an options to continue to use the building, sell it on somewhere else or sell it back to us. We included with our guaranteed purchase price, the costs of the removal from the warehouse area and return to our premises in East Yorkshire.
Hiring a building can be expensive, especially if your project runs over the initial intended period. In addition, not only do you have to pay for the delivery and installation of the building, but you also have to pay for the removal and return, and you never own it.
When you hire a building, you normally get a second-hand one and the break even point between hiring and purchasing can be as little as 18 months. If you purchase a building, then you retain the asset and the value of that asset.
If you are looking hire a building over a two year’s period, then seriously consider purchasing one. They can also be financed to spread the cost.
