A very tight installation of two double stacked portable buildings
6/08/2025
We were contacted through our website by AMG Chrome in Rotherham on the 5th June 2025, who originally enquired about a 16’ x 10’ jack leg portable building.
This then progressed to two 20’ x 10’ portable buildings, double stacked in their factory with an external staircase. After numerous revisions to our drawings we conducted a free site survey to assess the access and to see where the buildings were to be located inside.
It soon became apparent that because of their ceiling height we could not stack these two buildings on top of each other using a hi-ab craned vehicle, and because of their steel girders we could not get near enough with the wagon to even site one of the units.
So, we came up with a plan to “skate” the buildings in on purpose made skates and then by using a 10 ton forklift truck with extended tines, carefully lifted the first ground floor building into position inside the factory’s upright steel columns, with just centimetres to spare at either side of the building.

The upper cabin was much trickier to install but finally our site team successfully bolted both buildings together through their jack legs and then fitted the steel external staircase.
It was a long day, but our client was delighted with the end results.
We have recently installed quite a few portable buildings inside warehouse and factory buildings and are happy to visit you to conduct a free site survey to determine if a building can be installed inside your premises.
We have a professional and experienced site team that comply with all aspects of the Health & Safety requirements.
Please contact us, if you have a requirement for a building inside your premises.
